Are you willing to pay for perfect beauty with your own life?  Everyone wants to have a perfect appearance. Based on a survey conducted by Wolipop via Twitter and Facebook, only 31% of people don't want to change their appearance instantly. The rest agreed to change their appearance with plastic surgery, especially in the stomach, breasts, eyes and nose. Plastic surgery for aesthetic reason should be banned because it contradicts Islamic laws, can trigger psychological disorders and has serious health risks that can endanger your life.

People who want to change their appearance by undergoing plastic surgery usually think there's something on their appearance that’s always bothered them. For example, they have flat nose, they feel their breasts are too small or they don't like their monolid eyes. They think plastic surgery is the right option to get the look they want instantly. If you change your appearance by surgery, you change what God has created for you. It contradicts Islamic law. In Islam, plastic surgery for reasons of beautifying oneself or for aesthetics is haram. Plastic surgery is forbidden if the purpose is not to repair certain body parts that have damage or malfunction, such as surgery for cleft lip, saddle nose, broken fingers or toes due to accident, burnt skin, etc. This is the same as changing Allah's creation and the person who changes Allah's creation is Satan’s follower. In Surah An-Nisa verses 118-119 "Whom Allah has cursed, and he (Satan) said, "I will surely take a certain portion of your servants. And I will mislead them, and I will arouse in them (sinful) desires, and I will command them, so they will slit the ears of cattle, and I will command them, so they will change the creation of Allah. “Whoever takes Satan as an ally instead of Allah has certainly sustained a clear loss." In the verses, it is written, that changing Allah's creation is an act that is cursed and that is the command of Satan. As good Muslims we must be grateful for what Allah has created for us.

Many people agree that plastic surgery can increase self-confidence because they look better. However, there’s a possibility that the result is not as you desired. This can cause addiction and can encourage you to undergo plastic surgery several times. Psychological disorders that are common in this case are known as body dysmorphic disorder, in which people develop distorted perceptions about their bodies, so that they cannot be satisfied with any appearance. Patients diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder exhibited anxiety, suicidal thoughts, anger, hostility and low self-esteem. The American Psychiatric Association revealed that 7-12% of cosmetic surgery patients suffer from body dysmorphic disorder.

Plastic surgery is by some believed to be one of the keys to happiness because it can make them get admired, widely known, and it will be easy to get an attractive partner. In addition, careers are also wide open for people who look attractive. Keep in mind that no plastic surgery is risk free. It can change your life for better or worse. Plastic surgery has many risks that can be dangerous for health, such as nerve damage, infection, organ damage, and anesthesia complications. Furthermore, many people died after undergoing plastic surgery. One example of a fatal anesthesia complication happened to a patient, reported from Next Shark, Wednesday (01/16/2019), a 19-year-old girl wants to undergo nose surgery, otherwise known as a nose job, to improve her appearance. Due to a severe allergic reaction to anesthesia, this teenager was declared dead.

In conclusion, the government should take measures on banning plastic surgery without medical reason because it’s a serious problem. Beauty becomes an obsession in society, but taking plastic surgery as an instant way to get flawless and beautiful appearance comes with many risks both mentally and physically. Many people have become victims of it. Nobody is perfect and everyone is beautiful as they are.  Allah creates everything in the best way. It’s written in Surah At-Tin verse 4 “We have certainly created man in the best of stature”.
